Festival or Fair

On Saturday, October 29, 2016 there will be a free afternoon of spooky science fun for kids and their families presented by Science in Action and the Faculty of Science. Come out and see some Creepy Creatures and play with some Halloween-y hands-on science activities in the south concourse of the Academic Quadrangle, just outside Shrum Science Centre lecture hall B9200. We will present the Phantom Physics and Cryptic Chemistry show twice; at 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM.

Indian Summer’s closing party is the place to be on a summery Saturday night, as you join festival artists and special guests in bringing the curtains down on the 2016 edition in style.

Ever since the Beatles heard the sound of Ravi Shankar’s sitar, and the Rolling Stones stumbled upon the master musicians of Morocco, there has been a growing awareness and interconnectedness between the musical traditions of east and west. Vancouver gets a taste of one of the best examples of this musical conversation this summer when the Indian music sensation Rajasthan Josh takes over the Orpheum with a host of friends.

Youth Fest will feature 50 + Youth Focused Exhibitors connecting youth with what our community has to offer.

A breakdance battle will happen from 2PM - 7PM
This is a free event open to everyone 19 and under and for spectators of all ages! This is an all style battle, meaning any dancer of any style can compete. This will be an open prelim of all styles, and then we will pick the top 48 dancers making 16 groups of three. After each round we will randomly select new teams until we have a winning team.
