Lunch Poems at SFU | Jeff Steudel & Danielle LaFrance

About the Event

JEFF STEUDEL’s first book of poetry, Foreign Park, explores the correlation of the relationships we have with nature to the relationships we have with others and ourselves. Steudel’s work has received the Ralph Gustafson Poetry Prize, and he has been a finalist for CBC Literary Awards and the Montreal International Poetry Prize. He lives and teaches in East Vancouver.

Of Foreign Park: “These poems shimmer in their aliveness.” – Fred Wah

DANIELLE LAFRANCE lives on unceded Coast Salish territory. She is a poet, occasionallibrarian and, come June, just as occasional academic. Her forthcoming book of poetry is Friendly + Fire (Talon 2016), a discourse of friendly fire that interrogates militancy and friendships, the gendered implications of camaraderie or "brotherhood," misdirections and misidentity, and the supposed frivolity of gossip. Other books include species branding (CUE 2010) and Pink Slip (Standard Ink & Copy 2012). Alongside Anahita Jamali Rad, she organizes About a Bicycle, a selfidentified women's critical theory reading and journal series.
