Media Minds is a program which aims to help immigrant youth by using videography as a tool to creatively learn English. The goal of the program is to help participants improve on important skills, such as communication and teamwork, to better transition them into Canadian society. Focusing on group work and peer-to-peer mentorship, Media Minds teaches immigrant youth a creative way to tell their story.
The skills acquired through the Media Minds include: storyboarding, lighting, sound, filming and using basic editing software. Students will be encouraged to engage in conversations with the University Mentors and guest speakers, and build relationships for opportunities beyond the program.
